SURYA NAMASKAR

SUN SALUTATIONS

20 December

07:00 am

a sacred ritual honoring the Sun and your inner strength

  • WHY 108?

The number 108 holds great spiritual significance across cultures:

    • Sacred Geometry: There are 108 energy lines converging in the heart chakra, representing wholeness and unity.

    • Astronomical Connection: The distance between the Sun and Earth is approximately 108 times the Sun's diameter.

    • Yoga: In yogic tradition, 108 represents the universe's completeness—combining the elements of oneness, zero (emptiness), and infinity.

FACILITATOR
ALISA GRIGORYEVA
My name is Alisa, and I’ve been practicing yoga regularly since 2020. That same year, I participated in a transformative 7-day yoga retreat with Aniko, a Russian Vinyasa Flow Yoga teacher, who introduced me to the sacred practice of 108 Surya Namaskar. It was a deeply moving experience, one of the most profound moments of the retreat, when all the students came together, flowing as one in a united energy.

In 2024, I deepened my journey by completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) at Karma Teachers in Vancouver, which enriched my understanding of yoga’s physical, spiritual, and meditative aspects.

Yoga has become a way for me to reconnect with myself, enter a meditative state, and fully embody the rhythm of my breath and body. The practice of Surya Namaskar has always been special to me, and while it can be physically challenging, the soreness that follows feels like a joyful reminder of growth.
